Wishing everyone a happy and prosperous new year. Make 2016 your best year yet! What are your new years resolutions? I usually don’t make them, so I’m not let down when I don’t meet them. It’s time to eat better, exercise more, lose some weight, and focus on my mental well being. These are goals that I will make happen in the first quarter of the year.
We had a great time last night. Our neighbors are so awesome – we really lucked out moving to a neighborhood like this. We would never find this kind of “family” connection in Southern California, that we’ve found here in Iowa. They really are like one big second family to us, and we love it here.
Here’s a link to some of our pictures from last night’s party
Our neighbors host an annual 4th of July block party. This was our first time going, since we moved in July 25th of last year and missed it. Our neighborhood has probably doubled in size over the past year though, so it was great to meet a bunch of new faces. Had a great time catching up with some of our closest friends as well. Here’s a video that I put together, after the event.
Hope everybody had a great 4th of July weekend! I took my quadcopter up for a shot of the Waukee Fireworks show last Saturday night. This was my first aerial fireworks attempt, so things will be better next year. Enjoy
Cheers to another great year. One year ago, we never thought we would be moved from San Diego to the Mid-West, but here we are. The stressful “West Coast” way of life is behind us and we are happy in our new home. I’ve created a short video with the highlights from the year. Wishing you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
We got about 3″ of snow overnight. This is our second “real” snow this year and I’ve learned that I need a better snow blower. I found one on Craigslist that is two stage, and that’s what I need to really throw the snow out of here and clear the driveway quickly. Bruno is out having fun in it. Here are a few pictures.
Happy Thanksgiving! Hope everyone has a safe and enjoyable extended weekend…
In Iowa, the people celebrate Halloween one night early; and it’s called Beggars Night. The kids trick or treat from 6pm-8pm with a hard stop, which is nice. They have jokes to tell as well, which we found pleasantly and unusually surprising – some funny ones too. Tomorrow night, Halloween, will be quiet – the trick or treating is done. Bruno had a great time seeing all of the kids, and everyone got a kick out of his monkey costume this year.
We relaxed this 4th of July. San Diego’s Big Bay Boom, famous for the big bay blunder in 2012 when all of the fireworks accidentally went off at once, brought tens of thousands of people to the shorefront. We’re not keen on crowds so we opted out and decided to stay in Ramona for the small town Ramona fireworks show at the High School. It was actually a great show with a huge turnout. Next year, we’ll be watching the show at Waukee Centennial Park from the comfort of our own back deck at home.
How did you spend your 4th of July? Hope it was a good one…
