Short Clip on WHO TV, Channel 13

Our local Chief Meteorologist, Ed Wilson, gave me a nice “shout out” on the Channel 13 news a few nights ago. Occasionally, I will upload a nice weather related picture to Channel 13’s Facebook page; to share with all. Ed really delivered, giving a few surprising lines about my other pictures/videos and my YouTube presence. Check it out!

High Trestle Bridge, in Winter

There is an amazing trestle bridge just north of the Des Moines area in Central Iowa. The town is called Madrid, but it isn’t pronounced like the Madrid you and I know – they pronounce it Maadrid, which is a little odd but okay. I’ve been up to this trestle bridge a few times in the past, but with my new equipment I am able to get into tight spots from great distances, which I can appreciate in a shoot like this. There’s nowhere to park, for miles. I’ve never actually walked the bridge, but I hope to some day, once the snow melts. Anyway, here’s a quick video of my time up there the other day. I’ll post a few pictures here as well.

New Years, 2016

Wishing everyone a happy and prosperous new year. Make 2016 your best year yet! What are your new years resolutions? I usually don’t make them, so I’m not let down when I don’t meet them. It’s time to eat better, exercise more, lose some weight, and focus on my mental well being. These are goals that I will make happen in the first quarter of the year.

We had a great time last night. Our neighbors are so awesome – we really lucked out moving to a neighborhood like this. We would never find this kind of “family” connection in Southern California, that we’ve found here in Iowa. They really are like one big second family to us, and we love it here.

Here’s a link to some of our pictures from last night’s party

Our East Coast Vacation, September 2015

We had a wonderful, one week vacation on the East Coast. It was packed full of adventure, new places to visit and see every day. I’m looking forward to (hopefully) a relaxing October to get caught up on pictures, and sleep! We spent time with family, toured parts of New Haven and East Haven, visited our Canadian friends who drove down to meet us in Saratoga Springs NY, spent a day in Newport RI at the Breakers and the mansions along the coast, and we ran around Manhattan for a day visiting Central Park, the 9/11 Memorial, the Empire State Building, Times Square and more (phew, was that a run-on sentence?).

I have a ton of pictures and some videos to share, so stay tuned. I’ll post those in separate posts next to break things out a bit. Since my Manhattan photos are done, I’ll start with those.

We arrived home to Fall harvest here in the Mid-West. The combines are out in the fields harvesting corn, the heat and humidity is gone, and we are really enjoying this perfect Fall weather. Stay tuned for some local harvest pictures as well.

Sunset in Booneville, IA

Last night, I scrambled to find a new place to photograph another amazing Iowa sunset. I jumped in the car and headed west around 8:30pm (Sunset is 8:45pm). After about 10 minutes of driving, the sun was disappearing on the horizon and I thought I missed it; oh well, I thought, I’ll get some cool sky colors about 10-15 minutes after sunset and call it a night. After cresting the final hill, I caught a glimpse, pulled the car over and ran across the street. This is in Booneville, Iowa – And I’m glad I caught it!

Iowa Sunsets

I’ve been photographing sunsets lately, mostly HDR with a lot of time in Photoshop. This shot is from last Friday in Adel, Iowa at Penoach Winery; one of our favorite hangouts in the area. We’ve been here for one year now and we love it here. The weather tests us at times, but scenes like this are priceless. The “Only In Iowa” facebook page shared it and the viewers loved it, so I thought I’d post it here.
