Corn

Fall Harvest in Central Iowa

We’ve lived in Iowa a little over a year now. I’ve been waiting all year to get some aerial video of this and today it finally happened. We’ve watched this corn grow since March or April, so it was neat to see a full annual cycle. Took a bunch of Harvest pictures as well that I’ll put together into a slideshow and share, so check back!

Iowa Corn and Train Tracks

I was out last night shooting pictures with my Nikon and my quadcopter. Finally got some cool shots of the maturing corn in the neighborhood. It’s really taking off and it’s hard to describe to friends and family back home in California. I hope this picture does it justice! Also got some artsy shots down by the train tracks in Booneville / Van Meter Iowa. Here are a couple.

Iowa Sweet Corn

Another mid-west delicacy is sweet corn! Something we weren’t too familiar with, coming from Southern California. While regular corn is growing away in the fields, sweet corn is already being harvested. We bought our first dozen ears off a truck on the side of the road. We were told that’s the best, and they weren’t lying! I bought another dozen today and I will be shipping some back home to California. They aren’t going to believe how good this corn is! Amazing…
