On a recent trip to Southern California, I packed up the Phantom 3 Professional and brought it out there with me for the week. I ended up getting a few great shots while I was there. The terrain is so much different than the mid-west. It’s really flat here in Iowa, so when I have the chance to explore the mountains or the beaches from the air – I can’t pass it up! This shot was from the Amtrak construction underway, reconstructing the bridge through the lagoon near Torrey Pines. The rail line is still active, as a few trains went by me that afternoon. I tried to get some shots of the train, but it just didn’t work out that day.
Went to my brother’s wedding last weekend in Julian, CA; at a quaint little venue called Apple Lane Orchard. What a great place for a wedding. Nestled in the hills, East of San Diego, the perfect space for entertaining a hundred friends and family members. Here’s a little aerial clip of the place – we love Julian. Congratulations to Dylan and Ashley!
We are en route to New Orleans, staying at Le Richelieu in the French Quarter tonight. Once we arrive, we’ll drop off our things and run around the streets to see as much as possible for a couple of hours. Hope to find some good local food for dinner there tonight. Looking forward to Cafe du Monde tomorrow morning for breakfast before we head to the cruise terminal. Then… we’re off on vacation, cruising the Western Caribbean on the Carnival Dream!
This morning, we surprised my mom for her birthday at Origano’s in the Hillcrest area. It’s nestled between some popular breakfast joints like the Hash House and the Tractor Room. Origano’s is one of these little secrets with no lines, no wait, great food, bottomless mimosas for $10 bucks, and a Bloody Mary that is a meal in itself. Give it a try!
Took my quadcopter up over the Carlsbad Flower Fields today. What a beautiful day for it too!
We’re finally getting some much needed rain! About 5″ of the wet stuff is hitting the county today, so we’re braced for flooding. A good day to just stay inside! If you have a dog, like me, you need to time your walks with breaks in the weather. I found the perfect weather app for iOS, called Dark Sky – http://darkskyapp.com/
It will tell you when you have a break to go out for a walk between storms – A perfect app on a day like today.
Took the morning to visit the San Diego Safari Park. We have annual membership here and have a hard time using them. We decided to go on a whim and got some great pictures :
